The Farm Family Awards have been announced and a local family in the MD of Foothills were honored.
Congratulations to The McLean family, Mike McLean was the host at AM 1140 for 10 years and his family have

Below are some quick facts about all of the families honored this year.
Turnbull Family (M.D. of Pincher Creek)
- The land was homesteaded in 1898 where they farm
- The homestead used to be a halfway point,with a wagon from Brocket, where the grain elevator was, out to Twin Butte. There was an old barn there where people used to tie their horses
- This year, Turnbull Charolais Ltd. had top selling Charolais Yearling Bull in Canada last year for $49,000
Bolduc Family (M.D. of Willow Creek)
- Moved to MD Willow Creek in 1952
- Live in Stavely
- David and Dyce Bolduc- brothers and their family's who farm together
- David and Dyce both served terms as President of the Canadian Angus Association
- They Run 500 Purebred Black Angus Cows and farm 2,500 acres.
- They say they wouldn't have been able to grow their land base from 500 acres to 1,200 acres without the help from their wives.
- They sponsor events like the Stavley Indoor Pro Rodeo and the Chinook Jr Stock Show
Gallelli Family (M.D. of Rocky View)
- From Crossfeild
- Leisa's great-great grandfather became Calgary's first mayor when it was still a town.
- They produce grain,hay and cattle.
- Their three children are the 5th generation on the farm
- Leisa's is still involved in the 4-H program even though her kids are no longer in it. She volunteers lots of her time working on different comittees.
Tharle Family (M.D. of Vulcan)
- From Vulcan
- They live in the house Glen's great grandfather built after emigrating from England's Isle of Wight in 1902.
- Farm 3,800 acres and grow wheat, barley, durum, peaws, canola, rye, and flax.
- Kids belong to a number of 4-H clubs; The Arrowwood 4-H Beef Club, Arrowwood River 4-H Wranglers Horse Club & Foothills 4-H Sheep Club.
- The family is known for the large role they play in the community through volunteering.
Mclean Family (M.D. of Foothills)
- Roy and Lenore Mclean operate Stimson Creek Ranches with 450 cow-calf pairs and 25 horses
- Roy's great uncle bought the land in 1941
- Roy served as a Councillor with the MD for 20 years and a decade as the reeve.
- Lenore has been riding since she was two, and still saddles up everyday.
- Lenore grew up next to Florence LaDue and her Husband Guy Weadick, who founded the Stampede
