Today, September 9th, the 9th day of the 9th month is Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Awareness Day.

The day was chosen to celebrate 9 months of a healthy pregnancy.

Did you know that 1 in 100 babies born have FASD, which is nearly the same rate for autism.

And in order to create more awareness the Foothills Fetal Alcohol Society, based in High River have placed 100 red balloons around town.

The FFAS also organized the 2nd annual Office Chair Relay Race at George Lane Park.

Oh my, did we have fun again participating this year over the lunch hour.

We had teams of four face off in timed heats and the team from Food For Thought came out on top!

The winning team from Food For Thought with the coveted trophy and the award winning chair! Way to go

Just goes to show what healthy eating does for you!

Thanks to all the teams and fans that came out to support this great organization.

And here's to hoping we can hoist the trophy next year...only 364 days of training to go.

Team 'There's Always Next Year' (l to r): Benjamin Clay and Shayne Hill (from our sister station in Okotoks, The Eagle 100.9) and Sarah Scott and myself (99.7 Sun Country and AM 1140)

And a special shoutout to all the wonderful staff at FFAS for doing what they do for our community.

Thank you!
