The High River Flyers will hit the ice for the first time this season Wednesday, August 1, in Calgary.

The Team's Director of Hockey Operations, Kevin McNeill says it's just a chance for veterans or somebody looking to make the team, to skate and meet up with the new Head Coach, Colten Hayes.

He says the Flyers have been on the upswing the past couple of seasons and are drawing more fans and more interest, which is something he'd like to keep going.

"Everybody's pretty excited about that, that sits on the board and is involved in the association. Yeah, definitely, there is a pretty good feeling about the team moving forward."

McNeill says the Flyers are hoping to attract more local players this year.

The Flyers open the season at home on Friday, September 14, when the Three Hills Thrashers come to town.
