It took a little while, but the High River Flyers have finally settled on a new coach.

Colten Hayes will lead the Flyers into the 2018-2019 season.

A release from the Flyers shows Hayes has a long career in minor hockey as a player.

Hayes is a former professional hockey player with an accumulated 229 career games with the Missouri Mavericks, Stockton Thunder, Fort Wayne Komets, Reading Royals, and Alaska Aces.

Before turning pro, Hayes played in both the BCHL, AJHL, ECHL and CHL.  Hayes was known as a point producing defenceman that also played tough.

In 2016, Hayes played in the Senior AAA Chinook Hockey League and won the Allan Cup with the Bentley Generals in 2016.
