The annual food drive put on by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in both High River and Okotoks was a massive success.

The food drive started last Wednesday Sept. 14 with grocery bags being placed on door handles throughout the communities.

Then volunteers picked up all the full grocery bags on Saturday Sept. 17 and dropped them off at the food banks.

The Salvation Army Food Bank in High River raised 13,128 pounds of food, which is a slight increase from last years' total of 13,073 pounds.

And at the Okotoks Food Bank Association they were tipping the scale at over 30,000 pounds.

It works out to roughly a pound of food per person being donated from both communities.
