The On Farm Safety Program pays off for a foothills area feedlot.

For their work, Ballco feeders and Jeff Ball were awarded an Industry Leadership Award of Distinction by Alberta Farm Animal Care.

Ball says the program did take about a year to implement.

"We didn't have to change a lot of practices", he says, "it was just more or less making sure we had the documentation to prove we were doing what we were saying we were going to do".

Ball says the Brant area company is the first feedlot to get an AFAC award.
