Another member of High River's old guard has passed away.

Harold Courtney (Corky) Rousseau, of Vancouver, formerly of High River and Okotoks, passed away on January 29, 2023 at the age of 88 years.

His obituary says Rousseau taught high school, and coached gymnastics, track and field, and basketball.

For 17 years as Spitzee School principal, he had grade six camp-outs.

He cherished his staff and students, always known for his cheer and kindness.

Courtney was a Rotarian in High River for over fifty years with many warm friendships both there and in his community.

After retiring he served 14 years as a volunteer board member and chair of Headwaters Health Authority. He later became vice-chair on the board of directors of the Calgary Health Region.

He lived in Okotoks for seven years and in August of 2022, his wife Jeanette and he moved to Vancouver to escape the snow and ice of Alberta and to be closer to their son John.

A Celebration of Courtney’s Life will be held at a later date.
