New charges have been laid in the Coutts border crossing blockade from February of this year.

Alberta RCMP made the announcement last week as they updated the charges stemming from the blockade.

Three more people are now facing 'mischief over $5,000' charges including a town councillor from Fort Macleod.

Marco Van Huigenbos, a 32-year-old councillor for the Town of Fort Macleod has been charged and released on a promise to appear.

Alex Van Herk, also from Fort Macleod and Gerhard 'George' Janzen from Taber were also charged and released.

All three are scheduled to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court in two weeks on Tuesday, Oct. 4.
