The Okotoks Kinsmen Show and Shine battled heat and crowds on Sunday, August 21.

Hundreds of cars lined the roads with thousands of spectators taking in the downtown festival marking another spectacular success for the annual event.

Highwood MLA RJ Sigurdson saw the community come together again. A theme he sees throughout these events

"I think this is a testament to what's going on here. The Kinsman, the work of the volunteers, everything that's put in, the collaboration with the town of Okotoks and what this means to our community. I talked shop owners today. They had some of their best days that they have had in years and when you have thousands of people flood to Okotoks it gives us a great chance for us to showcase how amazing our town is."

The day highlighted local talent as various bands, including rockers STONEGATE took to the main stage, Vicarious Vandalism hosted karaoke and an open mic and Spectacle Blue showcased local youth circus talent.

No rain was in sight as the event wrapped up promptly at 4 p.m. concluding with the awards.

The coveted Mayors Choice is a fan favourite as Okotoks Mayor Tanya Thorn chose, not only a classic, but a classic maintained by youth Finn Martin.

"The reason I chose this car is because it is original and true to its original development, and I think what it shows is the resiliency of our province and the people in it. Not only that, the driver of this vehicle happens to be youth. Which is a passion of mine."

The event was run by the Kinsmen who raised thousands from the 2022 Show and Shine which will be put back into the community to develop and strengthen groups and charities in the community.
