Thousands of people from throughout Okotoks and the foothills poured into the downtown streets to take in the 30th annual Light Up Okotoks on Friday night.

It was the first full blown Light Up since the pandemic and with a fairly decent night of weather it brought people out in droves.

The event got underway around 5 with barricades going up along Elizabeth St. as vendors started lining the streets and food trucks started feeding the masses.

With a huge support from local businesses, they were able to bring in some special entertainment including fire dancers, live music, photos with Santa, wagon rides and hundreds of kids were lit up with glow sticks and smiles courtesy of the Okotoks Dawgs.

The biggest attraction is the lighting up of the Christmas Tree at Olde Towne Plaza at 7 and then at the end of the night when it's topped off with the fireworks from Lineham Park.
