Over 100,000 people are getting ready to make the trek to the Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton this weekend as the city welcomes the one and only Garth Brooks for 2 sold-out shows.
There are a few things that concert goers need to be in the know about.
Heading down to the grounds will not be as easy as just pulling up and parking; there will be no parking at the grounds. Concert goers will need to take the LRT or bus.
Commonwealth Stadium staff explained that Edmonton Transit Services (ETS) is providing Park and Ride services for both Garth Brooks concerts.
Service starts 2 hours before the concert starts and ends once the stadium clears after the event. Information about Park and Ride locations and fares can be found at edmonton.ca/CommonwealthStadiumParkandRide.
If you choose to take an Uber or taxi or have someone drop you off, bring your walking shoes. Commonwealth Stadium staff said drop-offs will be permitted at the Northeast corner of 112th Ave and 86th Street close to gate 9. Staff also noted the Edmonton Police Services (EPS) do shut down most roads around the stadium as there will be 140 buses running to get people to and from the concert.
Another thing for fans to keep in mind is that Commonwealth Stadium has a clear bag policy in effect for the facility, read up on the policy HERE. If you bring a clutch/purse bigger than indicated on this form, you will have to throw it out or will be denied entry.
Looking ahead to see what Mother Nature has in store: it is looking pretty good with a high of 16 for Friday and 21 for Saturday with a mix of sun and cloud in the forecast.
Just a couple of things to keep in mind before heading down to check out one of the biggest concerts to hit Alberta this summer.
