The province is starting a new phase of it's Turner Valley Gas Plant clean-up. The containment system will focus on preventing hydrocarbons from entering the Sheep River.
Alberta community development's Cheryl Robb says machinery is already being moved onto the site.
Crews have moved onto the site and the work should begin later this week or early next week.
It'll take until spring of next year.
Robb adds the new containment system will cost the province about 5 million dollars, which will double the amount invested in the clean-up.
