George Lane Memorial parkrun is a 5km timed walk, jog or run event that happens every Saturday at the Happy Trails.

On Saturday (June 1) they are celebrating two years of commitment to those who take part in the Saturday strolls. It's a voluntary event that costs no money and if you don't have the legs to make the 5km distance they also welcome those who just want to watch.

The parkrun is a worldwide movement to help create a happier and healthier planet.

Every week they meet up at George Lane Park next to the Memorial Cairn. Look out for the parkrun flag to make sure you are in the proper spot.

The event will start at 9:00 am and they ask first timers to arrive 10 minutes early for a welcoming and run briefing.

To register visit parkrun.ca/georgelanememorial and you will be given a barcode which will be scanned at the end of every event. This will give you a time of how long it took you to complete the 5km run and will help you track your progress.

The parkrun is a volunteer led movement and they will need a number of people to help support the event. Those who would like to help will receive some easy training on the day of the event.
