George Lane Memorial Park was hit hard by the strong gusting wind on Tuesday.

Broken branches litter the ground all across the park and the campground.

Campers were asked to move to the parking lot of the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex yesterday as a precaution.

Manager of the campground, Darlene Wilms says the barriers are still up at the campground but they're looking to reopen this afternoon.

"So far, it is still up at the entrance alright.  That is because the arborist is in here removing some of the trees that fell down and trimming them... so they don't want no traffic here in the park or in the campground."

Wilms says the campground itself was okay but a tree did come down in the park.

"One big one out in the park by site C there by the canteen in that area, one came down. And just some branches fell down here in our campground."
