Roller skating is coming to Okotoks thanks to a pop up event from 'Calgary Roller Skate'.

Owners Theresa Tucci and 'Roxy Acetylene' have booked the Foothills Centennial Centre for Saturday May 7.

Tucci grew up in Okotoks and wanted to bring roller skating back to her hometown.

"We wanted to come out to some satellite communities because we do have a big event in Calgary once a month at the JVC, Junior Varsity Volleyball Centre, so we wanted to start hitting more satellite communities as we're growing and I thought why not start with my hometown."

The event is scheduled for the entire day on May 7 with three different sessions.

"There's a 12:00 to 2:00 which is a family skate geared for families, we have radio friendly music.  There's also a 2:30 to 4:30 time slot.  And then there's an evening skate which is more for the older teenager and adults and that's from 6:00 to 8:30."

There's also a deejay lined up to play age appropriate music for each of the three sessions.

'Roxy Acetylene' says...

"It's time to get your groove on."
