The Alberta government will increase spending by 17-percent from last year to about 33-billion dollars.
Premier Ed Stelmach's first budget calls for 18-billion for infrastructure over three years. The document includes a new 280-million dollar Major Community Facilities Program.
The program, funded by lotteries, will assist non-profit groups, municipalities and aboriginal communities with building, renovating, upgrading or maintaining facilities for sports, recreation, culture and wellness.
There's also 574-million for water and waste water infrastructure.,
