The executive director of Grain Growers of Canada is leaving the organization.

Richard Phillips has been appointed president of the Canada Grains Council, a position which he will takeover in fall.

Grain Growers of Canada is an umbrella organization with 14 provincial and regional grower groups from across the country. The Canada Grains Council includes representation from all parts of the grain industry, and not just producers.

Prior to joining Grain Growers six years ago, Phillips was a director for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank and senior advisor for Winnipeg Liberal MP Reg Alcock.

He has been recognized numerous times as one of the top 100 lobbyists in Ottawa.
