High River's new R-C-M-P Detachment Commander has arrived.

Staff Sgt Russ Shapka takes over after being in charge in Claresholm.

He says one challenge is staffing.......

"Right now they are short staffed and that's putting additional pressure on everybody.  I don't think that there's too many that are up to full strength and that with other demands it really is a stretch for most detachments."

He started a School Resource Officer program in Claresholm and hopes to do the same in High River.
