High River was not represented at a meeting on a provincial police force near the end of last month.

Mayor Craig Snodgrass says he wasn't able to make it, but gives a great deal of credit to Okotoks Mayor Tanya Thorn for her work, trying to get answers from the Province.

He wasn't surprised they didn't get a lot of answers at that meeting.

"People should understand by now how the Kenney government works, they'll do limited consultation knowing full well exactly what they're doing behind closed doors before they really tell anybody anything, it's exactly why the coal mess because the coal mess and then it all blew up in their face," he says. "We've got to keep pushing them because they've got a long way to go."

He's not personally in favour of a provincial police force, at least in part because the true cost isn't known and the government hasn't provided it.

The Association that represents the RCMP plans another meeting in the local area next Thursday, February 24.
