High River is hosting a free pancake Stampede breakfast on Monday, July 8th.

The inaugural event is expected to become an annual community event and a fundraiser for the Wild Rose FoodConnexx which is under the umbrella of Wild Rose Community Connections.

The 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. event is hosted by local business Centered on Wellness and the Town of High River.

Head organizer Rick Green says it's way more than just a Stampede pancake breakfast.

"Also starting at 9 is the historic hayrides. They'll tour through town, Olivia [Cornwall] from the Museum [of the Highwood] has written a script already for the history of High River and how it relates to the Stampede."

Local band Classic Vibes will be playing throughout the three hours, 50/50 tickets will be available for Wild Rose Community Connections with the draw happening at noon, a dunk tank will be set up with local celebrities getting dunked every 15 minutes, and something really unique - a simulated train robbery.

Green says to make sure you're there no later than 9:30 a.m. to witness something pretty spectacular.

"Sometime around 9:45, there's going to be a bit of a disturbance by the station [train car]. So, that'll be fun, there'll be a few simulated gunshots and they'll all be captured by the Steele's Scouts Commemorative Troop."

While the event is entirely free a monetary donation to the Wild Rose Community Connections would be appreciated.
