Rugby season got underway on Wednesday for the Highwood High School Mustangs.

The Girls and Boys teams hosted the Banff Bears with both Mustang teams coming away with wins.

The Girls team, with many rookies playing their first game, took to the field first and came away with a 12-10 win.

Cass Steel and Rylee Murray each scored tries and it was the convert by Mac Morasch that was the difference.

The Boys squad hit the field next on the chilly night and picked up a 12-7 victory.

Tries from Will Folkerson and Rylan Bryenton along with a convert by Easton Gatto put them up by 12.

The Mustangs conceded a penalty try due to a high tackle giving the Bears their 7 points.
