Remember the good old days when you could just go to the batting cages to let off some steam or spend an evening relaxing with friends or impress that special someone with your home run power?

Well now you can again as a new business near Okotoks has opened up bringing the batting cage setting back.

Hitz Okotoks recently opened it's doors and its 8,000 sq/ft complex is sure to appeal to every sports fan.

Owner Brett Gehring says the reason he started Hitz was because he wanted to spend more time with his son locally instead of going to the city for extra practice indoors.

"My son started getting involved in baseball and playing with not having an area to just work on our own program and for him to take some extra swings was tough," he says. "There was nothing in the area having to go all the way to Northeast Calgary just to so we figured a facility like this would be a great fit to the community."

The facility consists of a dining room with a rooftop indoor patio, a restaruant and Hitz is currently working on adding two virtual golf simulators to their experience.

Gehring says any baseball player whether at a high level or rec player will have a cage that suits their needs.

"We have a little bit of something for everybody, we have a slo-pitch lane, fast pitch lane and then four baseball lanes. Kind of an open concept but we have curtains that we can draw in and create your own environment for practices, team events or individuals."

Gehring says that on top of the sports concept it's a great place to go and hand out with your friends or even a great date night idea.

"We've got that comment already that this would be a great family night out or a date night out," he says. "The idea is you can kind of grind away at your swing or work on your own stuff or you can unwind with your family or have a date night."
