Movember.

It's that time of year again.

It's time to put away the razor for a while and let the 'ol facial hair regain control.

It's Movember.

It's the time where men ask you all to pony up a few bucks for prostate cancer research.

And that's just what I'm doing again this year.

I'll start growing the old 'stache back in hopes of raising a few bucks to help out in the search for a cure.

So, to that end I got up early Saturday morning and made my way over to Tommy Guns Barber Shop in Okotoks for my Movember shave.

Admittedly it's the first time I've ever had someone else shave me, as it's something I've always done, but when the Manager Katie says it would be a lot of fun and offered me a chance to come in early in the morning I couldn't say no. Besides if any of you have ever met Katie, she's tough to say "No" to.

So off I went, not really sure what to expect.

Katie was actually scheduled to do my shave, but got busy that morning and passed me to another of new stylists, Maisie.

Maisie, for the record is awesome!

Very friendly, very professional and for those a little worried about a straight razor close to their neck, she has hands like a surgeon!

She started with some moisturizers and hot towels and quickly into the shave, to my surprise they actually do it twice with different blades, all the while using some very nice shaving cream that leaves your skin very tingly and very soft to the touch.

I can easily say "best shave ever" when I was done, and highly recommend it, as not only do you get a shave, but they give you're neck and shoulders as well as your head a good massage at the end to keep the blood flowing.

A totally worthwhile experience, one I look forward to repeating at the end of November when I go back to get rid of the soup strainer that will be on my face by then.

In the meantime, as you get set to get your "Mo" on, head down to see Maisie, Katie or any of the other staff at Tommy Guns in Okotoks, they'll be happy to help you on the way to raising money and awareness by getting you clean shaven and ready to "Mo!"
