Bullys will be getting a hard time this week. The province is trying to curb the problem with bullying awareness week....and the Foothills will be no exception. As part of it, the Government has set up a new 24 hour helpline for questions or concerns about the issue.
C. Ian Mclaren Principle Garry Tink says the media is full of negative incidents from bullying, like Columbine and Taber.
He says the aggression toward peers stems from self esteem issues.
Tink adds his school has been dealing with the issue actively for years, and hopes the community gets involved with a more positive attitude towards others.
For the free 24-hour bullying helpline, call 1-888-456-2323. The province is also encouraging website interaction for the whole family. Children 3-11 can visit www.teamheros.ca, teens can visit www.b-free.ca, and parents can learn more at www.bullyfreealberta.ca.
