High River's Kinsmen and Kinettes have stepped forward to work on some of the town's parks and green spaces.

Mayor Craig Snodgrass says it could really help the town.

"The Kinsmen and Kinettes, they're looking for projects around town that they can do enhancements or building of green spaces, park spaces, they're looking for a project so we gave them a couple of options that they could look into. One that we talked about was the outdoor rink at MacLaughlin Meadows, a fix-up or enhancement to that or there's also the old Rio Vista Golf course area."

The Rio Vista is located east of Birchwood Park off Centre Avenue.

The organizations will discuss their options and come back to council in the next couple of weeks or so.

In a letter to the town, the Kinsmen and Kinettes said they were aware of money the Town generated with the sale of homes in the northwest last year.

They're asking for a partnership with the Town using some of that money along with their own funds and their own physical labour to focus on local projects.
