The Longview 4-H Beef club raised some big bucks for raising a big steer named 'Knuckles'.

Knuckles brought in thousands for the High River District Health Care Foundation on Victoria Day Monday.

Executive Director of the foundation, Wendy Kennelly says she got the call Tuesday morning with the final number.

"And it looks like Knuckles brought in a total of $36,575.00. Thanks to the parents, everyone who donated and contributed and supported the kids with pledges. It means the world to us."

The final buyer was the Transcend LLP group in High River.

Kennelly also praised all the incredibly hard work the 4-H kids do amongst everything else going on in their lives.

"I have a deep appreciation for these kids and on top of it, they're doing all this charitable work on top of all these extra chores and trying to get ready for the school year-end. I mean, they are really exceptional community leaders these 4-H kids.

And the kids will have a say in what the donated money will go towards with the foundation.

The Longview 4-H Beef Club's yearly show and sale took place in person for the first time since the pandemic at the High River Ag grounds.
