Day two at the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Red Deer had some shining moments for some southern Albertans.

The spotlight was also on not just the athletes but also Okotoks' own Brettyn Rose as she hit the stage last night to sing her Country heart out.

Another local lady from Longview also had a spectacular run in Ladies Barrels.

Longview's Kylie Whiteside ripped through with a time of 13.94, just 2 one-hundredths of a second ahead of second place finisher Stacey Ruzicka to claim top run of the day for a nice chunk of change worth almost $10,000.00.

Kylie's sister Bradi also improved on her last ride with a penalty-free run of 14.22 to sit in 9th.

Ty Taypotat from Nanton is also having a tremendous CFR in Bareback with a second-place finish yesterday with a score of 85.00 and sits first in the aggregate.

Nanton neighbour Logan Bird also had a solid time in Tie Down Roping with a 9.1 to land him in second and pocketing almost $7,000.00 for it.  It also moved him up the standings in the aggregate and he's sitting in second.  Wyatt Hayes out of Granum also had a time of 9.4 seconds to land in third on the day for some good day money. Brandt's Colt Cornet had a no time again yesterday.

Bull Rider Jordan Hansen, originally hailing from Okotoks, was bucked off yesterday after tying for first on day one. Seven out of the 12 riders stayed on for 8 seconds yesterday with Jared Parsonage from Maple Creek coming in third and has a large lead on the rest of the pack.

Arrowwood's Kole Ashbacher had an eighth-place ride in Saddle Bronc with an 83.25 but he sits second in the aggregate. High River's Lucas Macza scored an 84.00, good enough for sixth and he's now tied for third in the aggregate.

In Steer Wrestling, fellow Okotokians Harley Cole and Jonny Webb both had no times with Cochrane's Tanner Milan's time of 3.9 seconds good enough for fourth still leaves him in first overall.

Over in Team Roping, southern Alberta was well represented with Chase Simpson (Claresholm) and Travis Speer taking top spot with a time of 4.8 seconds. Cole Davison (Vulcan) and Kolton Schmidt landed in fifth on the day with a 9.1 and the team of Clint Buhler (Nanton) and Brett McCarroll had a 10.4 to finish in seventh.  Wyatt Hayes (Granum) and Tyce McLeod, Jeremy Buhler (Arrowwood) and Levi Simpson, and Tristin Woolsey (Nanton) and Trey Gallais all had no times.

And in Steer Riding, Hayden Mackay from Claresholm stayed on for eight and scored a 76.50 for second place.  He's tied for first in the aggregate.
