The last weekend of January was a success.

Friday night I caught the beginning of the Flute Alors! Bach 'N' Jazz concert presented by the High River Gift of Music and my goodness....it was amazing!

Four musicians playing classical Bach pieces with a jazz twist...on recorders....I am wishing I would have taken the recorder more seriously in elementary school after seeing their musical talents!

It also had a great turn out with all ages in attendance.

After my sneak peek of the concert I got to join in the action at the third annual Eli Gosselin Memorial Game and again great turn out from people all over the Foothills there to remember the late and great Flyers captain.

Tom Kowal, NHL referee, did the puck drop at the memorial game in celebration of his 1000th NHL game and was presented with his very own Flyers jersey, very cool!

It was awesome seeing the stands packed for such a special night...now I wish the Flyers best of luck as they hunt for a spot in the playoffs!

And to end the weekend I got to hang out with some of the nicest people around at the Soup Sisters event at the Turner Valley Legion.

Soup Sisters and Broth Brothers gathered to prepare 4 different soups: minestrone, chicken noodle, hamburger and a meatless chili, that will be donated to the Rowan House Women's Emergency Shelter.

All together 200 servings were made and that will last about two months at the shelter and really helps the group with their food budget!

It was a wonderful time and I can't wait to actually make the soup at their next event!

Another great weekend in the Foothills!
