A local entrepreneur may change the face of Alberta Health Care.

Paramedic Jason Kiriaka from High River is Co-founder of Genesis Medi-Shuttle, a van service for people who need a stretcher without the medical services of an ambulance.

He says recent pilot projects have been a success.

"Given the fact that we have been able to establish a 50% cost savings for the Chinook Health Region over the past 6 months again in a small subset they have given us, I think shows great promise to bugets that are being strained to the enth degree right now."

Kiriaka says he hopes the health region, which uses expensive ambulances unnecessarily to transport non-emergency patients, agrees to use the medi-shuttle on a permanent basis.
