The Highwood Mustangs felt the sting of defeat as they were dropped 53-0 Friday night by the Rundle College Cobras in the Big Rock Football League.

Mustangs Coach Bill Young says this one got out of hand early.

"They had three offensive plays and two went in the end zone and on the next series they also scored and we gave up a two point conversion. It was 22-0 before six minutes were gone in the opening quarter.

One big plus for the Mustangs though was the pre-game tailgate party hosted by the Cobras.

They helped to raise well over three thousand dollars for the Mustangs to help them recover from the Flood.

Young says fans, parents and supporters from both teams were incredibly generous.

Next up for the Mustangs the Dan Bednash Memorial Game this Saturday, October 5th at Highwood High as they welcome Canmore.
