Foothills School Division Assistant Superintendent Drew Chipman

The Foothills School Division's (FSD) capital project wish-list could be on the back burner for a little while.

The province recently announced there would be no new funding for education over the next three years, something that could put a damper on some planned school projects.

Assistant Superintendent, Corporate Services of FSD Drew Chipman said the division was hoping to get funding for a $25 million face lift of Foothills Composite High School, among a list of other things.

"With the growth in Okotoks and the area just south of Calgary we will be looking for a new school in that area quite quickly. As well we will be looking at some more capital needs as they arise," said Chipman.

Finance minister Doug Horner relayed the news just a week after the opening of Westmount School in Okotoks, as well as in the midst of a projected $2.3-3 billion deficit for 2012/2013.

Regardless Chipman said they're hopeful the projects will be included in the capital project announcements.
