The Okotoks Oilers season may be long over, but the off-season is always busy for the club as they spent three days last weekend kicking the tires on some potential new players at their annual spring camp. Photo - Al Gimblett - Dynamic Photography.

The Okotoks Oilers wrapped up their spring camp over the weekend at the Centennial Arena.

Coach James Poole says he saw a lot of very talented potential future Oilers.

"it was actually one of the best spring camps in a number of years. I think the depth we had in our camp was outstanding. We probably had the most players in our camp we've had in a long time with roughly 170 players."

Poole says he was very impressed by a number of the players.

"We definitely had a lot of players that we think are ready to make the jump to Junior "A" and be really good players for the Oilers, not just for next year, but in the future. Now it's just a matter of identifying those players which we think we have and moving forward and getting them here in August and committing to playing for the Oilers."

Poole says the plan now is to spend the summer recruiting some of those players and getting them to come back to Okotoks for main camp in August.

Poole talks about the spring camp and the Oilers busy summer months with Russell Skeet.
