The Okotoks Art Council (OAC) has put out a call for designs.

They're taking submissions for temporary window paintings for the municipal centre.

OAC president Russell Thomas says it's over a year in the making.

"Last year as we were coming out of the pandemic, the Okotoks Art Council was looking for a way to support and get involved with the Light Up event that is so important to Okotoks. We never did figure out how to plug in last year, but the town, this year, invited us to partner with them to put out a call for artists to paint windows at the community centre. As the arts council, we're always looking for ways to support our community and support the creative community."

Anyone and everyone who's interested is encouraged to submit a design.

"That could be anybody young or old, amateur or professional, it could be a group of artists, it could be a teacher with kids, it could be a group of seniors. All we're looking for is people to submit their ideas. We're coming to the table, with partnership from the town to provide the funding to make that happen in terms of supply and time. The whole purpose, really, is to build up the Christmas spirit in Okotoks and put a really beautiful unique display in those windows between Light Up and the new year," says Thomas.

There are no strict guidelines for specific elements or slogans outside of the festive theme.

Details for submissions can be seen here.

The deadline to submit is Oct. 31.
