The Okotoks Bisons swept the Cochrane Generals to win the HJHL Championship last night.

And they did it on Cochrane ice.

The Bisons got goals from five different skaters in the 5-3 win last night to sweep the Gens in three games in their best-of-five series league final.

It was a hotly contested, hard fought win with the Bisons scoring first as Dylan Wenzel tickled the twine at the 15:38 mark of the first period.

Then it was the Generals tying it up in the second and the back and forth seesaw battle continued with the score knotted up at two after forty minutes.

The rough play heated up in the second period as well with Bisons' Dylan Wenzel dropping the gloves for five and a game misconduct. 

The thrilling third period also saw a multiple penalties assessed in the final minute of the game but the Bisons held on for the win.

Netminder Dylan Fries got the win stopping 28 of 31 shots.

Other goal scorers on the night for the Bisons were Lucas Watkins, Brayden Kapty, Austin O'Bray, and Adam Kirkpatrick with the Bisons registering 38 shots on net.

The Bisons final record on their championship season, including playoffs, is a staggering 44-5-1.

The winning season saw the team racked up 310 goals, 513 assists for 823 points along with 1285 penalty minutes.
