An Okotoks family is reeling after the murder of their daughter.

On April 7, Calgary police heard reports of gunshots in the area of Templeview Drive N.E.

They found 23-year-old Jamie Lynn Scheible unconscious and in medical distress with an apparent gunshot wound.

She later died of her injuries at Foothills Hospital.

The Calgary Police Service (CPS) released a statement from her family:

"We are devastated by the loss of our sweet daughter Jamie. She was the most amazing, loving and kind person who was always helping others. She was beautiful, free-spirited, quirky and funny, and always brought a smile to our faces.

She is beloved by many friends and was the best mother, big sister, daughter and granddaughter. We adore her and are overwhelmed with grief.

We are asking for our privacy to be respected at this time as we mourn the sudden and tragic loss of our amazing daughter."

A warrant for second-degree murder has been issued for 37-year-old Gerald Russell Frommelt.

He's described as 6’2” tall, weighing approximately 250 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes.

A quote from CPS Staff Sergeant Martin Schiavetta was included in a release about the warrant.

"After further investigation, we have determined that the victim and accused were recently in a relationship and we believe this to be a domestically-motivated homicide...This is a tragic death and we are asking the public to help us locate FROMMELT to help bring justice to Jamie's family."

A GoFundMe page has been started on behalf of her family.

The funds will go toward Jamie's parents Lesley and Dale for funeral costs and support for them and Jamie's two-year-old daughter.

In just two days it's raised over $19,000.
