A new renter/tenant matching program is being launched in Okotoks.

The town is collaborating with the non-profit Happipad to help address affordable housing in town.

Happipad runs an online platform that matches tenants with homeowners looking to rent space in their properties.

A background screening is done before matches are made, and the platform also handles rent payments and rental agreements, and offers renter conflict support.

Renters can even meet with potential tenants in person before making a decision.

The move aligns with the town's municipal development plan and their goals to increase housing options in Okotoks.

Mayor Tanya Thorn was quoted in a release from the town.

"We are pleased to be able to work with Happipad to provide our community this unique opportunity to make a positive impact by contributing to the housing supply. Happipad offers another option for those looking to rent and allows homeowners to share extra space; it's a win-win."

More information on the collaboration can be seen on the town's website.
