Okotoks RCMP have issued a driving advisory.

They're cautioning residents not to drive, if possible, due to this evening's road conditions.

Freezing rain earlier today combined with snow and colder temperatures in the evening have made for dangerous road conditions.

Their media release includes tips for those who will be driving. 

"If you do have to drive this evening, make sure you have headlights on, dress appropriately for the weather, have proper tires equipped, and have an emergency kit with blankets, lights, extra clothes.  Make sure you watch your speed and pay attention to road conditions as they are at varying stages of grip. Together we can keep the roads safe during the first snowfall of the season."
