Okotoks is the latest recipient of an award for sustainable community development.
Rick Quail the town's municipal manager received the award on Saturday during the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Conference in Montreal.
The town was recognized for its leadership in renewable energy initiatives including the Drake Landing solar community, which takes advantage of solar energy for home-heating.
Drake Landing has attracted national and international attention for its innovation and being the first community of its kinda in North America.
