Recent vandalism in Okotoks has sparked the debate on the youth curfew.

Young people up to age 15 are not permitted in public after 11pm without permission.  One suggestion by Mayor Bill Mcalpine is to raise the age to 17.

Councillor Jamie Tiessen says there has been no discussion with council...just personal opinions.

"The curfew bylaw as it's in place right now is a deterant and a useful tool for police to encourage young people to go home and be home at certain times of the day and I'm not sure that making adjustments would neccessarily do anything."

Several buildings have been vandalized in Okotoks over the last few months including the library, which was hit last Friday.
