The Town of Okotoks has instated a partial water ban.

Water demand has been increasing lately, with several weeks of hot dry weather.

According to the town, their water reservoir levels are between 67 and 75 per cent.

With heat remaining in the forecast for the foreseeable future and no rain in sight, the town has moved to Stage 3 of their Water Shortage Response Plan.

The priority is conserving water for indoor use and fire fighting.

Outdoor watering is no longer permitted on weekends, with the restriction to remain in place until reservoir levels improve and the weather takes a turn.

Manual watering with a trigger nozzle or a container is permitted.

Residents can apply for a water exemption permit for sod or new seed on the town's website.
