Five matches were on display early Wednesday afternoon at the Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling WFG Masters in Okotoks.

In the three women's games had Tracy Fleury of Sudbury, Ontario defeating Edmonton's Val Sweeting 7-4, Rachel Homan was victorious against Alina Paetz of Switzerland 5-3 and Allison Flaxey of Caledon, Ontario took care of fan favourite Jennifer Jones 9-6.

On the men's side Olympic champion Brad Jacobs tooks care of Niklas Edin of Sweden 4-2 and the Mark Nichols formerly the Brad Gushue rink had their way with Edmonton's Brenden Bottcher 9-4.

Kicking off the 4:00 p.m. schedule will have defending Masters champion Mike McEwan face-off against the (0-1 )John Morris rink along with Reid Carruthers Winnipeg squad in a duel with Scotland's Kyle Smith (0-1) and Steve Laycock's (1-0) Saskatoon rink lock up with Toronto's John Epping.

The ladies on the ice will be Calgary's Chelsea Carey verses Binia Feltscher of Switzerland and another Switzerland rink sees Silvana Trinzoni battle Winnipeg's Kerri Einarson.
