There's a warning to internet hay sellers.

Ted Nibourg of Alberta Agriculture says some farmers using the "Ropin' the Web" feed site have been contacted by buyers in Kansas who place a large order.

"What happens after a couple of days, they'll either cancel the order or say that they don't need as much and ask the producer to wire the reminder back less an inconvenience fee", he says, "the first cheque is bogus, either stolen or fictitious, not cashable".

Nibourg says his best advice is to have the cash in hand before sending out any money.
