The rodeo action was fast and fierce on Monday as Pool B got underway at the Calgary Stampede.

Some Canadian highlights include cowboys and cowgirls from southern Alberta.

Pool B standings after Day One:


Ty Taypotat (Nanton) is the only Canadian in Pool B, and he was bucked off. Richmond Champion from Texas scored an 87.00 on a re-ride to take the top spot.

Saddle Bronc:

Kolby Wanchuck (Sherwood Park, AB) nailed his 8-second ride with an 87.50 and tied for 1st. Lucas Macza (High River, AB) had a solid ride of 83.50 for 5th place and Dawson Dahm (Duffield, AB) ended up in 7th.

Bull Riding:

Three really strong Canadian contenders are in Pool B but all three were bucked off and they include Coy Robbins (Camrose, AB), Jordan Hansen (Amisk, AB formerly from Okotoks), and Jared Parsonage (Maple Creek, SK).  Only two athletes were able to hold on for 8 seconds.

Tie-Down Roping:

Only one Canadian is in Pool B and that's Beau Cooper (Stettler, AB) who tied for fourth with a time of 8.4 seconds.

Steer Wrestling:

No Canadians are in Pool B however Ty Erickson (Montana) had a fast time of 4.5 seconds for top spot. 

Ladies Barrel Racing:

Lynette Brodoway (Brooks, AB) is always a contender, and she rode to a 5th place showing with Blake Molle (Chauvin, AB) sitting just behind her in 6th.

Novice Saddle Bronc:

It kicked off yesterday with some fine performances from some Albertans. Clay Greenslade (Strathmore, AB) scored a 68.00 for 2nd place. Jordan Cust (Sturgeon County, AB) ended up in 4th with Reid Gustafson (Crossfield, AB) coming in 6th.  Devon Hay (Wildwood, AB) was bucked off.
