Young people between 15 and 24 years of age experience one of the highest rates of dating violence in the country according to Statistics Canada.

Ally Cramm with the Rowan House Emergency Shelter says they're out to combat that, reaching out to students in schools.

"We go into schools and we talk about, well we start with the younger kids, we talk about the basics first, friendship, bullying and kindness and then when we get to the older kids we do talk about dating violence, those red flags to watch for, how to set personal boundaries and different things like that and then we also provide social media where we provide the education ongoing on our instagram account so teens can follow along outside the classroom," she says.

Cramm says you can check out their website for more ways to help.

Rowan House also has a new Executive Director, Lynette Soldan who comes over from the Calgary Women's Emergency Shelter.
