Teenagers get hands on medical training at SCRUBS Summer Camp.

The Calgary Health region encouraged kids between the age of 14 and 16 to join the profession at it's SCRUBS Summer Camp  this week.

Friday was the last day of the second summer session, which took place at SAIT, the University of Calgary Faculty of Nursing and the Foothills Hospital.

Denise Moroz,  Workforce Planning Consultant with the Health Region, says yesterday the kids met with a doctor who showed them x-rays of a stomach filled with knives and forks, as well as a nurse who taught them how to put gloves on properly.

She adds that they're encouraging kids to joing the healthcare workforce to prevent future labour shortages.

Information on next summer's camp is available at www.sait.ca/summeratsait.
