Chestermere RCMP were called to a serious injury collision on highway 1a at rainbow road yesterday evening.

A chevrolet cavalier, driven by an 18 year old woman from Chestermere exited from rainbow road onto highway 1a. 

A freightliner semi-tractor tow truck was heading eastbound on highway 1a when it is believed the chevrolet crossed into the path of the semi tractor which was unable to stop. 

The driver of the semi-tractor is a 42 year old male also from Chestermere.
 
Emergency services had to remove the roof of the car to get out the 18 yr old female. she was transported by Calgary EMS to the Foothills Hospital.
 
The southbound lane of hwy 2 was closed for about two hours as a result.
 
This collision is still under investigation. 

No charges have been laid at this time.
