Environment Canada has issued a warning to Okotoks, High River and Claresholm for a severe thunderstorm that could potentially hit the Foothills area.

They also warn that the storm could produce strong wind gusts in the evening.

These types of wind gusts could cause harm by potentially tossing loose objects, damaging weak buildings, having tree branches break off, and overturning large vehicles.

If the threatening weather hits, be sure to take cover immediately. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year and Environment Canada said "Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!"

On top of the potential harms from a severe thunderstorm, other things to look out for are large hail, damaging winds, and torrential rainfall.
