Average citizens and big-name speakers will tackle addiction at a Black Diamond conference. Turner Valley RCMP, the Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commisssion, and the Town of Black Diamond's Family and Community Support Services are hosting the Slaying the Dragon Conference Saturday September 30th at the Oilfiends High School in Black Diamond.
Colleen Klein, wife of Premier Ralph Klein, will speak about  the provincial Task Force On Crystal Meth.
Judy Walbridge with AADAC says they'll also hear from recovering addicts and law enforcement officers from the U.S.
"Hopefully we can bring this issue closer to home to talk about local services with managing some of the problems related to addiction," she said, "and obviously, from my perspective with AADAC, some of the solutions."
The conference is open to concerned members of the public.
To register, contact the Town of Black Diamond at (403) 933-4348.
