The special weather statement issued this morning is now a full-blown snowfall warning.

Environment Canada cautioned that between 10 to 20 cm of snow could fall on Friday, with low to moderate confidence.

With the new snowfall warning issued at 3:40 p.m., they're now firmly predicting snowfall will start in the early morning and fade out in the evening.

Road conditions are expected to be variable and to change quickly.

  • Foothills Co. near High River and Aldersyde
  • Foothills Co. near Longview and Eden Valley Res.
  • Foothills Co. near Okotoks and De Winton
  • Foothills Co. near Priddis and Brown-Lowery Prov. Park
  • Foothills Co. near Turner Valley and Black Diamond
  • M.D. of Willow Creek near Claresholm and Stavely
  • M.D. of Willow Creek near Nanton and Parkland
  • Rocky View Co. near Bragg Creek and Tsuu T'ina Res.

The special weather statement is still listed on their website, and still cautions of strong winds that could lead to low visibility combined with the snow.

And Friday morning they also issued a fog advisory for the region with near zero visibility at times:

Near zero visibility in fog is expected or occurring.

Dense fog patches have developed and are causing near zero visibility in some areas. Conditions will improve later this morning.

If travelling, be prepared for areas of near-zero visibility. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.
