Spraying Delayed

Spraying has been delayed this year.

Doon Pauley says the June moisture has been welcome for growth but some weeds are getting beyond the reach of control.

Pauley says farmers have some more decisions to make because of the rain.

"Making the herbicide selection based on late staging is an issue we're dealing with", he says, "walking through options of what weeds to target and what weeds are already too advanced where spraying now might be only revenge spraying".

Pauley says some crops have yellowed because of the prolonged moisture while others are showing signs of leaf disease, which isn't common in Southern Alberta.
